Dear Jesus,
I’m grateful for a relatively quiet day
when the daily routine is simple with no surprises
and no great difficulties.
A chance for reflection and prayer
comes and ends in a thank you.
Amen.

Dear Jesus,
Help us engender and support the faith
that others experience.
Kind words and actions can stifle the chaos
and indifference that mark our world.
Courage and compassion offer hope.
The memory of your life, death and resurrection
is the source of energy for true living.
Amen.

Dear Jesus,
Help me to appreciate the contributions of people
who differ from me whether it be by
age, sex, background, culture, work, or religion.
We are all your people, each with their own gifts.
Amen.

Dear Jesus,
Please bring healing and strength to all those
forced to leave their home country due to war or persecution.
Call others to come to their aid and show compassion.
Bring peace and justice.
Amen.

Dear Jesus,
Thank you for the events of this past day.
The important ones were responses to others' needs.
Help me to be more sensitive to the situations
of others and to help as I can.
Amen.

Dear Jesus,
I need time to be quietly in your presence,
to slough off the daily trivia, to find myself,
to be open, to be accepting, to be welcoming.
In the silence comes the music.
Amen.

Dear Jesus,
Sometimes things just don’t go right.
Faulty appliances, mistakes, misunderstandings
and other irritants make me feel anxious and uncertain.
Lord calm me down.
Let me understand the truly important
and put aside the trivial.
Open my heart to cherish your love.
Amen.
— By Columban Fr. John Comiskey
Dear Jesus,
I thank You for all the people who have touched my life.
This gratitude goes beyond relationships or categories.
Some encounters were brief and fleeting
yet still meaningful and touching.
Longer-lasting ones may have been more complex and nuanced.
As I bring them to mind, joy and sensitivity emerge and blossom.
Amen.

Dear Jesus,
Thank you for guiding the Pope and leaders in the Church.
Give us all the courage and confidence to face
our future in service to You and Your reign
of faith-filled love.
Amen.

Dear Jesus,
I want You to be like a big brother
who would guide and guard me.
You are that and so much more.
Share with me the wisdom to live more fully
in the way You have formed me to be.
Amen.

Dear Jesus,
Some days can be quite busy with tasks, meetings,
family responsibilities, unexpected demands,
almost no time to catch your breath.
The anxiety becomes draining.
Then Dear Lord touch our hearts, slacken the pace,
let us feel Your loving presence.
Amen.
— By Columban Fr. John Comiskey
Lord, my sorrows seem endless,
like a mountain stream,
constantly there,
Almost a torrent of despair.
Yet in spite of grief and empty longing,
in You I trust, in You I dream
and hope in blessings for us all,
all together in Your love,
where every tear will be wiped away,
where peace will flow,
in sweet abundance cascade below
to comfort all our morning hearts.
In the love that binds us all to You,
all the living and all the dead,
and all those yet to come,
may that dream come true.
May every tear be wiped away
in the comfort of Your love.
Amen.
— By Columban Fr. Patrick Sayles
Dear Jesus,
Your presence in the Blessed Sacrament
is a sign of Your fidelity to God’s people.
You are with us and among us.
You call us to bring about Your kingdom
of justice and peace.
Your body and blood nourish us in this journey.
Amen.
— By Columban Fr. John Comiskey
Dear Jesus,
Sometimes, I need to put aside my doings,
agendas, concerns, worries and whatever else
is rumbling around in my head.
Taking time out, I need to stop and listen
for Your quiet gentle voice.
Amen.
